Last Kind Standing is a sci-fi comedy cartoon project, taking inspiration from the likes of Wander Over Yonder, Steven Universe, Kid Cosmic, and similar media. The series is planned to use toonboom puppet animation, and hybrid storytelling, with the first handful of episodes being more episodic, and the show's overarching storyline becoming progressively more serious - though still having a small amount of comedic filler thrown in, to break up a bit of the tension.
Right now, the project is only being worked on by 1 person, with help from their best friend, so progress is slow and there's not much to look at... But hopefully, it can be brought to an indie studio someday and be produced as a webseries!
The Story
A mysterious event known only as the Galactic Dying is wiping out entire species left and right. Nobody knows what's happening, panic is spreading like wildfire, and the surviving civilizations grow ever more distant from eachother, hoping to preserve their legacies before they're next.
Our protagonists, Hiro the Prusathian and Avio the Crevolan are not much different, if a little sketchier... As the last of their respective kinds, they travel the galaxy on a run-down stolen spaceship, stealing, hoarding, and selling magical relics at inflated prices; all in hopes to dodge exctinction a little longer. That plan goes out the window when they crash-land on the seemingly-barren desert planet Ataraxia.
With their ship destroyed, they follow the only sign of life - an insect-like robot - into in the underground bunker of Madouk, a Dynamunculan inventor. Cornered by her towering robot assistant Medusoid, the two beg for mercy, and they're spared - but only on the condition that they become Madouk's errand runners: gathering scrap, scouting planets, and along the way, uncovering the ruins of dying worlds - in exchange for room and board.
For the first time, Hiro and Avio have a true place to call home - and they no longer have to rely on shady relic deals to survive. They’ve even got a reluctant robot protector for their missions: Medusoid! Their new found family, although odd, is one that they quickly grow close with... But the Galactic Dying is still spreading outside their little bubble, and its reach will soon begin to creep unnervingly close. Everyone in the bunker shares growing concerns that it'll take this away, too... so they begin to set out and find the cause for this, once and for all.

More media formats for this project are up in the air, too - perhaps some small webcomics, games, etc... Not too sure yet, though. I'm prioritizing learning about what is needed to produce a cartoon in the first place, and I'm also waiting until I'm in a stable enough environment to garner a fanbase (and thus funding) for the project itself.
